Felicia & Jared

A lovely fall afternoon at Park City Mountain Resort
The couple made a special request for La Vie en Rose for the wedding party processional and for the bride's walk down the isle: Journey's Don't Stop Believin'
In keeping with our tradition when we play up the mountain in park city, we rode the Alpine Slide back down!

Evelyn and Kevin

We performed for a ceremony and cocktail hour at a private residence tucked away in the woods in Park City. The setting was stunning for a wedding. The forest was so peaceful and beautiful and the bride and groom invited just a small group of family and friends which created a really sweet ceremony.

This couple was so in love. The officiant mentioned a few times that it was meant for them to be together and by their interactions it truely seemed so.
We added a new song to our repertoire at the request of this adorable couple. We now play Ed Sheeran's "Thinking out Loud." Such a fun piece to play and so fitting for a wedding!

Strings of Elegance Performs at Abravanel Hall

Strings of Elegance played for a private event at Abravanel Hall this week. Any chance to play on stage at Abravanel Hall is so exciting for us musician types. The acoustics in that beautiful hall are incredible and add another level of fun to performing. We played some Brahms, some Mozart, some Handel, and others. A really enjoyable performance!

Hallie & Kory and Hotel Park City

Hallie and Kory were married at gorgeous Hotel Park City in front of a lovely mountain incline of boulders, flowers, and trees.

The weather was a bit funny, with the wind knocking our shade umbrella onto us during prelude and a heavy video camera on a tripod onto Ryan during postlude, giving him a nasty bruise. During the ceremony, a light rain started so Anna and Cathy, our bookends, had to get creative in order to continue playing while also protecting their instruments. They moved behind Meili and Ryan under the large umbrella that was now anchored by a heavy box of wine (thanks to a kind member of the wedding party who had placed it there after the umbrella fell so we could continue playing in safety with shelter from the bright sun and drizzling rain, which took turns throughout the 2 hours that we played).

Swoop was there to present the wedding party at their celebratory dinner. So fun!

We played some great music before, during, and after the ceremony.

Prelude:
Te Deum
March from Marriage of Figaro
Trumpet Tune
Rondeau
Ave Maria
A Thousand Years
At Last
You Raise Me Up
Can't Help Falling in Love
Some to Watch over Me
Over the Rainbow
Only Time
The Rose
October Sky Theme

Ceremony:
Wedding Party Processional: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
Bride Processional: Canon in D
Recessional: Bittersweet Symphony

Postlude:
Clocks
Viva la Vida
All You Need is Love
Wouldn't it be Nice
Beauty and the Beast
Sleeping Beauty Waltz
Here Comes the Sun
Paradise
Don't Stop Believing
Sweet Home Alabama
Oh Happy Day
Do You Realize

Karly & Tyler at Talons Cove

Karly and Tyler were married at Talons Cove, a golf course right on Utah Lake in Saratoga Springs.

We played All of Me for the wedding party processional, Pachelbel's Canon in D for the brides entrance, and Mendelssohn's Wedding March for their recessional.

Following the ceremony we were surrounded by our favorite crowd and biggest fans... these fun young children! They sat for a bit like attending a concert and then got up and danced ballerina style to "Sleeping Beauty Waltz" and hip hop style to our upbeat "Sweet Home Alabama."

Kristin and Rory

Kristin and Rory chose the Empire Lodge in Deer Valley as their location to tie the knot. Stunning setting, stunning bride, stunning groom!
Empire Canyon Lodge, Deer Valley

The guests were seated on the lawn where they waited in anticipation of the ceremony. We finished up our traditional prelude music and started Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring as the groom, the parents of the bride and groom, and the groomsmen made their way down the aisle. We transitioned to Coldplay's Viva la Vida for the bridesmaids (fun choice Kristin and Rory!). Next, for the bride's grand entrance, we played Canon in D. You can't go wrong with Canon in D... It just sets the stage.

After a very sweet, very loving ceremony we welcomed the new Mr. and Mrs. back down the aisle to the tune of Marry You by Bruno Mars (a very popular piece this summer).

Strings of Elegance
Following the ceremony we played during the cocktail hour out on the deck. We played a mix of popular pieces, some classical and even a few Irish pieces in honor of the Groom, who is Irish.

Thanks to Kristin and Rory for including us in your special day.

Becky and Fred

Becky and Fred were married under perfect skies at the St. Regis Deer Valley Resort. This wedding was so fun to look at. Everything was designed beautifully. Their colors were a plum purple and peachy orange. The flowers, the tables, the dress, everything was eye candy.

The procession piece Becky and Fred chose for the ceremony was Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. We played Somewhere over the Rainbow for the bride's entrance. The ceremony was so personal and thoughtful. I always feel honored to attend such a special part of our client's lives.

Following the exchange of rings and a sweet first kiss as husband and wife, Becky and Fred walked back down the aisle to the Beatle's When I'm Sixty-Four. Every now and then we will have this piece requested for a ceremony. I think it so cute and so fitting. Here are the lyrics:

When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

You'll be older too
And if you say the word
I could stay with you

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride
Doing the garden, digging the weeds
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight
If it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck & Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, wasting away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?

Josh & Emily at La Caille

We played Josh and Emily's wedding at La Caille in Sandy, Utah under billowing gray clouds.

We played Pachelbel's Canon in D for the wedding party and Marry Me by Train for the bride's entrance. This piece was new for us. Emily arrived at the front of her procession just as the chorus rang out. It was perfect. As the officiant announced that Josh could kiss his bride, the crowd cheered, and so did the peacocks!

The violent rainstorm did not begin until they walked down the aisle together as husband and wife. For their recessional, we played All You Need is Love. We were stranded for a little while under our umbrella, but we didn't mind. La Caille is a beautiful place in which to be stranded by pouring rain.

Brogan & Lyndi

This backyard wedding in West Point was amazing. These people know how to party! They really transformed the yard into a beautiful space. A huge white tent covered most of the yard and kept everyone shaded. The ambiance, the sweet words that were spoken during the ceremony, the food, and the entertainment ;) were perfect for a summer wedding.
The Bride and Groom requested a few special pieces in addition to our regular repertoire. We played:
Queen's  My Best Friend
Bach's  Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major
Landgrave's  Because I Have Been Given Much
Handel's  Hallelujah Chorus
And now for your viewing pleasure ... a cheesy selfie of Michelle and Cathy.

New Website

Although we are definitely not new to the quartet business (we've been playing together for 13 years now!), we have a brand new website up and running: stringsofelegance.com
